A wildfire reported and being dealt with about 14 miles northeast of Gold Beach. An Oregon Department of Forestry Incident Management Team is at the Lobster Creek fire. Latest estimate of its size is 450 acres but officials don’t believe it will be a long term event. It’s the largest of the season so far and is about ten percent contained. There are currently about 150 people fighting the fire, including bulldozers and air support. According to the Curry County Pilot, the fire started at the Lobster Creek Youth Campground . Around 40 people were evacuated from the camp. It’s not clear yet how the fire started. The Oregon Department of Forestry is expected to take over management of the blaze Monday night.
