A man found passed out in a vehicle with a handgun in his lap is now under arrest in Eureka. Police went to the 3300 block of Broadway at just before 1am Wednesday to check out the report.
Officers arrived on scene and conducted a high-risk stop on the parked vehicle; however, the male occupant did not acknowledge officer’s commands. After numerous attempts, officers approached the vehicle and could see the handle of the handgun in the male’s pocket. The male occupant eventually woke up and was taken into custody without incident. The handgun was determined to be loaded.
The male was identified as Nolan Travis (26 of Del Norte County). Travis was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.
