The Carr fire is now considered 69% contained at 214 thousand acres. More than a thousand homes and three lives have been lost to the fire and smoke over the area has reduced visibility. Route 299 is open early Thursday morning between Redding and Weaverville but no information has been released as yet concerning plans for the highway after that. The Ranch fire, the larger segment of the Mendocino Complex fire, is now at 67% containment and has consumed 315 thousand acres. It continues to burn in the Mendocino Natural Fores and threatens communities north of the fire perimeter. In Lake County, Northbound Bartlett Springs Road is closed at SR 20. The Klondike complex fire is 15% contained and now stands at 57 thousand acres. Bear Camp Road and Peavine Road are the only active closures, according to latest reports.
