Kneeland Firehouse Grand Opening Set For Sunday

The Grand Opening of the Kneeland Firehouse is set for Sunday. Measure Z funding paid for the work and also provided funding to Kneeland Fire for a new fire engine and water tender, and fire hose, structural and wildland personal protective equipment and self-contained breathing apparatuses. In 2014, Humboldt County voters approved Measure Z, a half-cent sales tax to fund public safety and essential services. Voters renewed this locally controlled funding in November 2018. Since Measure Z was passed, more than $9 million has been allocated to volunteer fire departments for purchasing critical equipment they could not otherwise afford.
